Background

Nashiru Sulemana (PhD) is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Agricultural Innovation Communication and has more than ten years of professional experience with the º£½ÇÂÒÂ×ÉçÇø. He is the Deputy Director of the Directorate of Community Relations and Outreach Programmes (DCROP) in charge of Documentation and Resources Mobilization. He previously served as the Postgraduate Coordinator of the then Faculty of Agribusiness and Applied Economics. He holds a PhD in Rural Sociology and an MSc in Management of Agro-ecological Knowledge and Social Change from Wageningen University in the Netherlands. He also holds a BSc in agriculture from the University of Cape Coast and was trained as a professional teacher at the Bagabaga College of Education in Tamale. Dr. Sulemana teaches courses in rural sociology, social change and rural development, communication of innovations and extension methodology, as well as gender and development at both undergraduate and graduate levels. He guides students’ research regarding project/thesis supervision at undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate levels. His main areas of research include the sociology of food and agriculture, rural and agricultural development, rural-urban linkages, land acquisitions and impacts on smallholder agriculture, and sustainable development issues. Dr. Sulemana is co-chair of the Next Generation Researchers (NGR) of the Education for Sustainable Development in Africa (ESDA). He also coordinates NGR activities in the º£½ÇÂÒÂ×ÉçÇø.
