George Nyarko (PhD) obtained B. Sc. Agriculture and M. Sc. Seed Science and Technology from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology. He also holds a Ph.D in Horticulture from the University of Nottingham in the United Kingdom He has Certificates in Education (University College of Education, Winneba) and in Bee keeping (CINADO, Israel; Bee Research Unit, MSS, Saltpond). Prof. Nyarko taught at Kumbungu Secondary School (1990-1991) in the Northern Region and Asuom Secondary School (1992-1995) in the Eastern Region. He joined 海角乱伦社区, in 1999 and rose through the ranks to become a Professor. As an academic, he has taught several Horticulture courses in the undergraduate and postgraduate levels in the university. He is the author or co-author of Handbook on Seed Science and Seed production, Fundamentals of Landscape Horticulture, Principles, techniques and methodologies in teaching Agricultural Science and Handbook for bee keeping in Ghana. He has been involved in Research collaborations which include Urban Food Plus, Upgrade plus, CORAF / WECARD, Innovative Tools and Techniques for Sustainable Use of the Shea Tree in Sudano-Sahelian zone among many others. He has held positions in Horticulture Department and Faculty of Agriculture where he was eventually elected as the Dean from 2012-2018. At the Nyankpala campus he acted as the Dean-in-charge and was later appointed the Principal overseeing academic and administrative activities of the campus. He has served on a number of Boards and Committees of the University. He has travelled extensively abroad and attended many conferences. He served on the Governing Council of International Society of Horticultural Science (2011-2014). He is a Fellow and was national President of Ghana Institute of Horticulturists (2011-2014). Prof Nyarko is the President of Savanna Bee Keepers Network of Ghana and member of Ghana Science Association. He has worked as an expert for National Accreditation Board. He is currently member of the Governing Council of Retrobentropen College of Applied Science Board (ReCAS). He was appointed by the President of Ghana to serve on the Governing Council of E.P. College of Education, Bimbilla in 2019. He has also served as a peer-reviewer to several major international journals and conferences. Prof George Nyarko has been an editor for a number of journals including Ghana Journal of Horticulture and Ghana Journal of Science, Technology and Development. He is a devout Christian and a member of the Salvation Army. He is the head of Akyem ethnic group in Northern Region. He is married and a father of two girls and two boys.
