Background
Ms. Afua Kobi Ampem Genfi is a Lecturer in the Department of Biochemistry and currently serves as the Department Quality Assurance Officer. She is a Science Diplomate. She is a mentor to many in her department, other universities, and outside Ghana. Ms. Genfi has 4 years of work experience as a lecturer and researcher in the UDS. She has over 10 refereed article publications and 4 Technical reports to her credit. She has attended several international and local conferences. Her teaching covers areas such as Hormone Biochemistry, Membrane Biochemistry, Intermediary Metabolism, and Principles of Biochemistry. Her research interests include Oxidative stress management, Hepato- and nephroprotection, Anti-cancer, Antimicrobial, Antioxidant, and Anti-inflammatory, Effects of medicinal plants, spices and ornamentals, and Toxicity Studies. Her current professional tangent is “Exploring medicinal plants (Indigenous ones especially) for their anti-inflammatory and antioxidant activity”. Her prospect is to turn all her research findings into valuable products that will be beneficial to her country in response to SGDs 3 and 9 and provide first-class training and consultancy services to students and clients in response to SDGs 4,9,11. As a Science Diplomat, she seeks to contribute to policy advocacy for plant medicine usage for illnesses, especially in the liver and kidney based on scientific evidence. She was involved in Project-Regional Institute for Population Studies (RIPS)
